▲South Africa SABS certification introduction
The South African National Mandatory Regulation Implementation Act (Act 5 of 2008) was promulgated in the Government Gazette 31216 on July 4, 2008, and was enforced on September 1, 2008. It is controlled by the South African agency NRCS. NRCS is the abbreviation of National Regulator of Compulsory Specification, and its full name in Chinese is the National Compulsory Requirements Management Department. Its predecessor was the SABS certification regulatory department, which has since become an independent department. All electronic and electrical products that meet the requirements, whether they are exported or sold in the South African market, must apply to the NRCS for a power of attorney as a customs clearance and sales pass.
★SABS certificate type
South Africa’s certification is divided into two situations: the first application for LOA and COC is mandatory for South Africa’s imports, and this certification procedure is not allowed to put the SABS trademark on the product label; COC is EMI testing, and LOA is For the approval of the letter of authority agent, apply directly to South Africa. The second application is ICASA certification, based on wireless terminal equipment。
★Applicable product range
1. Household and similar products;
2. Information technology products;
3. Electronic entertainment equipment;
4. Wireless mobile terminal.
★Standard test
Safety: IEC, SABS/SANS
EMI: IEC, EN, CISPR, SABS/SANS
★Application process
1. Company registration
NRCS registration; the detailed information of the registered importer is used to establish a credit mechanism. If the basic information of the manufacturer or importer changes, it should be re-registered in time; non-South African companies must apply through South African agents.
2. Submit application materials
1) LOA application form
2) For the qualified test report issued by an accredited laboratory, NRCS may require the applicant to provide samples if necessary to confirm the validity of the report.
3. NRCS review and evaluation materials, South Africa IEC report application
★SABS precautions
1. First, the company must appoint an agent (Agent), the agent will declare to be responsible for all data information and after-sales matters. The South African Road Traffic Act (Act93:1996) requires importers to register with the local Ministry of Transport;
2. South Africa is an imperial country and is a member of the right rudder. At the same time, it can continue to test and submit documents to SABS and other work only after successful registration;
3. All test items should be completed in strict accordance with the relevant standards of South Africa and technical documents such as reports that meet the NRCS should be submitted;
