Kuwait notified the TBT Committee on December 17, 2006 that it intends to implement the new Kuwait Local Conformity Assurance System (KUCAS) to replace the current International Conformity Certification Program (ICCP). In consideration of accepting the valuable comments of the members of the TBT Committee on the KUCAS guidelines, Kuwait hereby informs the TBT Committee that it will extend the comment period and postpone the implementation of KUCAS in accordance with the dates indicated in the 9th and 10th items of this notification to allow sufficient time. PAI revised the original ICCP plan into the KUCAS plan (Kuwait Conformity Assurance Scheme) for conformity system assessment, and cancelled the original pre-ship test method on September 1, 2006.
Since March 17, 2003, the Kuwaiti Industry Authority (PAI: The Public Authority for Industry) has implemented the International Conformity Certification Program (ICCP: International Conformity Certification Program) to conduct conformity assessment and confirmation of imported products from Kuwait. Before entering Kuwait, controlled products must obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC, Certificate of Conformity) issued by an authorized agency of PAI in order to pass customs smoothly.
